The below courtyard was heavily infested with pigeons nesting within the open basement corridors, 2 slate roofs and several windows on the ground and first floors - the only practicable solution was two large pigeon nets, one attached from the fascia boards of the 2nd floor vertically to the floor and the second horizontally capping the pigeons out of the area. Access was not required on a regular basis into the capped area however a temporary door was made to allow for light access and should larger items be required then an option for the net to be rolled up was available (using re-useable cable ties rather than hogrings). Spikes were also used on the higher window sills as well as the gutters and hoppers. Access was via a scaffolding system, and painting the external walls justified this cost).
